AI Engineering Readiness Audit
AI agents are writing your code. Do you know what it's costing you?
A fixed-price, two-week audit for CTOs and VPs of Engineering. You get a scored readiness assessment, the evidence behind it, and a 90-day roadmap. Fully remote. No repo access required.
The problem
- Velocity is up, but comprehension is down.
- Reviews are rubber-stamping AI-generated code.
- Nobody truly owns the modules AI wrote.
- Incidents take longer because nobody understands the code that broke.
You don't have a tooling problem. You have a guardrails problem.
The audit
What you get.
Everything is written down, scored, and yours to keep.
The readiness scorecard
Where you stand across all 7 dimensions, scored from the evidence we collect together.
The written report
Findings with the evidence behind each score. What we found, why it matters, nothing padded.
The 90-day roadmap
A prioritised plan: what to fix first, what to fix next, and what to leave alone.
The executive readout
60 minutes with your leadership team, remote and recorded, walking through the findings and the plan.
The scorecard
The seven dimensions I score.
Every score comes from evidence: your pull requests, your CI, your incidents, and your team's own answers.
Guardrails and policy
The constraints that decide what AI agents may touch, and what stops them when they push past it.
Quality gates and CI
What your pipeline actually blocks, and what sails through on green.
Review and comprehension
Whether reviews still transfer understanding, or just approve diffs.
Testing and verification
How much of the AI-written code is proven to work, rather than assumed to.
Ownership and accountability
Who answers for a module when no human wrote it.
Incident recovery
How fast your team recovers when the code that broke was generated.
Measurement
Whether you can see any of this in numbers, or only in vibes.
How it works
Two weeks, start to readout.
Week 1
Evidence
- 1
Kickoff call
We agree scope, schedule the sessions, and send the survey out.
- 2
3 to 5 working sessions
One hour each with you, your EMs, and your senior ICs. Two to three of them are screen shares where your engineers drive: recent AI-assisted PRs, CI configuration, review practice, and the last incident.
- 3
Team survey
A short async survey to the wider engineering team. Minutes to answer, not hours.
Week 2
Judgement
- 1
Synthesis and scoring
I turn the evidence into scores across the 7 dimensions.
- 2
Report writing
Findings, evidence, and the 90-day roadmap, written for your leadership team.
- 3
Executive readout
60 minutes, remote and recorded. You leave knowing where you stand and what to do next.
About 6 hours of your team's time
The total cost across both weeks, spread over the kickoff, the working sessions, and a short survey.
No repo access required
Your engineers drive every screen share. Read-only access is optional under NDA if you prefer it.
The method
Scored by someone who runs this, not someone who read about it.
Every dimension in the scorecard is drawn from agent-heavy engineering in production: the guardrails that hold, the quality gates that catch things, and the review habits that keep code understood. The talks below set out the thinking.

Fit
Who it's for.
This is for you if
- You have 20 to 150 engineers.
- AI coding agents are already in use, or a rollout is planned.
- You want evidence, not vibes.
This is not for
- Teams under 10 engineers.
- Anyone looking for a contractor to write code.
- Anyone looking for a rubber stamp.
Pricing
One price. Everything included.
AI Engineering Readiness Audit
£5,000
Fixed price. Two weeks. Fully remote.
£5,000 for the founding cohort. First two clients only, in exchange for a named case study. The standard price after that is £7,500.
- A readiness scorecard across 7 dimensions
- A written report with the evidence behind each score
- A prioritised 90-day roadmap
- A 60-minute executive readout, remote and recorded
The guarantee: if you reach the readout and don't believe the audit was worth the fee, tell me within 7 days and I'll refund it in full. I'd rather refund a fee than leave a team with a report they cannot use.
2 of 2 founding slots available.
A mutual NDA and a one-page SOW, both e-signed. 50% on booking, 50% on delivery.
Optional add-ons: an on-site executive presentation, or a follow-on advisory retainer. Ask on the call.
Questions, answered
Do you need access to our codebase?
No. By default your engineers drive every screen-share session and I never touch the repository. If you prefer, read-only access can be arranged under NDA.
How does it work remotely?
Everything runs over video calls plus one short async survey. Week 1 is interviews and screen shares, week 2 is scoring, the report, and the readout. The readout is recorded so your whole leadership team can watch it.
Who conducts the audit?
I do, personally. Every session, every score, every page of the report. The method comes from running agent-heavy engineering in production, so you get a practitioner's read rather than a junior with a checklist.
How much of my team's time does it take?
About 6 hours in total across the two weeks. That covers a kickoff call, 3 to 5 one-hour working sessions, and a short survey for the wider team. Two to three of those sessions are screen shares.
What paperwork is involved?
A mutual NDA and a one-page SOW, both e-signed. Payment is 50% on booking and 50% on delivery.
What happens after the audit?
You have the scorecard, the report, and a prioritised 90-day roadmap, so your team can execute without me. If you want help executing it, that's a conversation for the readout.
How do I book it?
Start with the intro call. If we're a fit, you'll receive a mutual NDA and a one-page SOW to e-sign, then an invoice for 50% to reserve your start date. The remaining 50% is due on delivery of the report.
What if it isn't useful?
Then you shouldn't pay for it. Tell me within 7 days of the readout and I'll refund the fee in full, no questions. You keep the report.
Find out where you stand.
A 20-minute call. Bring your questions, leave knowing whether the audit fits.
