As AI moves from answering questions to writing and reviewing code, the structure it works within becomes part of the development process. In this talk, I explored what that shift means for architecture and for the engineers guiding it. AI can repeat a useful pattern quickly, but it can spread a weak one just as easily. Giving each file one purpose and one reason to change makes the system easier for both people and AI tools to understand.
I connected the single responsibility principle and separation of concerns to practical guardrails: lint rules that enforce boundaries, tests that check behaviour, descriptive naming, and predictable patterns. I also covered documenting the architecture so humans and AI share the same context. The focus was on giving AI clear direction through the codebase itself, so faster development can produce software that remains stable and maintainable.
